Signal Versus Noise

June 03, 2025

Every week brings a new headline.

Tariffs. Trade Wars, Interest rates. Elections. Earnings. War.

Recession fears one day, “soft landing” the next.

Boom talk. Bust talk. Back again.

It’s not that any of it is unimportant. It’s thatnot all of it is equally meaningful.

There’s a difference between what’s happeningandwhat actually matters.

Good investors—and grounded people—develop a discipline:
They learn to filter out noise and tune into signal.

Noise distracts. It demands attention.
Signal guides. It helps you make better decisions.

Often, signal is quieter.
It looks like long-term trends, not short-term swings.
It sounds like your goals, not the market’s mood.

This isn’t just about markets. It’s about how we move through life.
Not every alarm is worth reacting to. Not every opinion needs a response.
Sometimes, the wisest thing you can do is to pause, zoom out, and ask:

What actually deserves my attention?

Reflection:
What noise have you been tuning into lately that might not deserve your attention?
